This is the first in a series of "Spontaneous Concepts" - album-length conceptual works of a Progressive Ambient nature that spring to life quite quickly.

I almost called this one "Music for Star Gazers and Planet Spotters" until my better judgement took hold and told me to find a less generically-ambient-sounding name.

One Saturday morning, I'd been playing back a couple of tracks I'd been working on that were in a more Berlin School vein, and thinking "where will I go from here?". Inspiration for such tracks don't come around very often, so I couldn't see myself forging that path long-term.

The answer to this question came from the most unlikeliest of places. Driving home later that day, I was waiting at a set of traffic lights when I saw a truck with a trailer sporting the words "Chilled Ambient" on its side - it was owned by a company in Wolverhampton called Great Bear. Two and two were put together and an idea was born.

With the warm, Summer nights approaching, I thought it would be good to take a break and do something that's very slow and chilled - something to accompany the clear and cloudless nights when the stars and planets blanket the sky.

When you get one of those nights, go outside, find a comfortable place to sit or lie down, then play this quietly and contemplate the wonders of the cosmos.

Both tracks seem to capture the feel of classic space science fiction movies, albeit A bit differently. The first feels a bit darker, more foreboding. It feels as though someone got a view of this intense even and what having extreme difficulty processing what they were seeing. The next track lightens up and presents more of a feeling of pure wonder as the synts become a bit lighter and less intense. Fringes of Sound
